They of the Bloody Shoals
I
The Minyra, hailing from the kingdom of Minressa, are a seafaring people who occupy the inner reaches of the southwestern gulf system. It is a kingdom of city states each ruled by Basileus who are constantly infighting but are sworn to a single, divine Anax who possesses the ability to unite them. Minyran men are famed for their Arsinoitherium-jumping, a ritual they call Kérathelon in which a leaper wearing loose garments must vault over a charging Arsinoitherium without gorging themselves on the gigantic horns. Despite this popular performance, the Minyra do not bond to that beast, instead they are bonded to the Basilosauridae; the gigantic whales of the coastal oceans. They are generally a peaceful people, far more concerned with the politics of their individual city states than that of the world as a whole. Despite this, their warriors are feared not only for their athleticism, but for their sickle blades through which magic users divine not only the future, but the present.
